The  American States(R) Pageant is a tribute to the women of our nation.  Miss, Mrs., and Ms. American States (R) represent all colors, creeds, marital status and size.  She is a woman who is a beauty inside and out and strives to be the best she can without compromise to her true inner self. 

Competition is based on personal achievement and personal accomplishment.  The title of Ms. American States (tm) is one to be cherished as a special honor.


1.  a.  Ms. Delegates may be of any size, shape, or marital status.
     b.  Mrs. Delegates must be actively married and not in the process of legal separation or divorce.
     c.  Miss Delegates can be any age over 12.
2.  Ms. and Mrs. Delegates must be of age 16 and older to participate.
3.  Delegates under the age of 18 must have parent or legal guardian signed consent.
4.  Delegates agree to be of good moral character.
5.  Delegates must make appearances.  Winner is required to make 10 during her reign.
6.  Delegates will agree to sign a code of conduct and delegate contract.
7.  Delegates will abide by the rules as set forth by the Pageant.
8.  Competition is comprised of:
50% Achievement Portfolio and resumees.
50% Interview / Essay Questions.

9.  Deadline for submissions is March 1, 2009.
10. Winner will be announced March 17, 2009.
11 Information submitted becomes property of the Pageant.
12. Information supplied, including photos will be published at the discretion of the pageant.
13. Delegates must provide self-addressed-stamped shipping package for return of materials.
14. This is NOT a preliminary pageant.  This title is a stand-alone National Level Title.

16. Your personal data will NOT be published.


Director of the pageant has the final authority on disqualification or revocation of a title.
All attempts at mediation will be taken before revocation of a title.
Upon revocation of a title all prizes including crown and sash will be returned to Pageant in like new condition.
If prizes are not returned in like new condition delegate is solely responsible for replacement cost of items.
Prizes are subject to sponsor participation.
Judges scores are final.
Judges will score delegates based on performance during pageant competition.
At no time will judges factor a prior relationship or prior pageant placement or competition performance into the delegate's score.
American States (R) understands there may be a prior relationship between sponsors, judges, delegates.
American States (R) will not allow said prior relationships to be used in anyway to influence scores or competition.
Delegates are not required to speak English but must be able to communicate or provide a translator as necessary.

(tm) is not related to or affiliated with Miss World(R) or Mrs. World(R) or Miss Universe(R)
Choose 10 of the following questions.  Each answer is limited to 500 words or less.  Response will be scored on clarity of content, general appeal, grammar, and originality.  Each question and its corresponding response will be on one sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 paper, double spaced.  Font is to be no smaller than 10 pt.  You may choose creative papers and font colors.  Font type must be legible.  Hand written responses are accepted and must be legible.  Points will be deducted for not adhering to the afore mentioned policy.  You WILL NOT be judged for your opinions.  You will be judged on the clarity with which you express your opinion.  Answers will be scored from 1-10 points.  Total of 100 points possible.

9.  We've all heard the phrase, "there's something about you."  Tell us what your something is.
10. The image of Americans is seen as tarnished in other countries.  What can you, Miss, Mrs., or Ms. American States, do to improve our image?
11. Tell us your one wish.
12. What do you see as the positive side of Pageantry and competition?
13. What do you see as the negative side of Pageantry and competition?
14. America is the "Great Melting Pot." We are rich in cultural diversity.  Tell us how you celebrate your cultural diversity.
15. Define: "good moral character."
16. Tell us of a problem you see in your local or global community.  Give us your plan to solve it.

19. Tell us about one "hard time" you experienced and how you dealt with it.
20. What is your one best piece of advice?
You are required to submit a portfolio / scrapbook and resumees.  This portion of the competition is to show us who you are.  Show us your personality, your strengths, how you have grown, etc.  Education need not be related to college.  This can be personal or related to educational conferences through your employment.  If you are a "stay-at-home-mom" do not discount all that you do.  Think of the many jobs you fulfill in your role and submit this data in your resumees and portfolio.  This area will be judged on creativity, neatness, clarity of presentation, and documentation.  Score fro Scrapbook / portfolio will be 1-50 points.  Score for Resumees will be 1-50 points..


Scrapbook / portfolio is a more detailed representation of your resumees.  It should include:
1.  Photos with text relating what the photos depict and why they were chosen.
2.  May be in a 3 ring binder or scrapbook of no smaller than 8 1/2 inches by 11 inches.  No larger than 12 inches by 12 inches.
3.  Documents including certificates and letters of appreciation to support the assertions within the portfolio and resumees.
4.  Scrapbook / portfolio will contain the following either as tabbed sections, or in order of flow:
cover page - please include your name, title and a photo
introduction - introduce yourself to us
community service - if you are new to volunteerism, tell us what prompted you to start
education - college, life and circumstances, work related, personal persuits
family - pets, children, spouse, parents, close friends or your "Ohana"
professional experience - include your entrepreneural efforts as well
personal experiences - what makes you tick
your dreams / life goals - and a little on how you plan to facilitate their fruition
summary / closing - tie it all up

Resumees are brief one or two page maximum.  Be creative and use different papers, fonts and colors.  Make sure your resumees are clear, legible and your point is made concisely.  You are to submit a total of 4 resumees.
